Good morning, my dear friend.
I was reading this morning about Israel being delivered “triumphantly and gloriously” (Ex .25:1) from the Egyptians and in the next breath finding themselves wandering in the Wilderness of Shur for 3 days.
There was no water let alone a delicious cup of English breakfast tea. ;-)
You can’t imagine how they grumbled and complained to Moses — their leader who they had only just seen (3 days earlier, mind you) led by God to destroy an entire army equipped with the latest weapon technology — without the loss of even one unarmed Israelite.
Imagine their delight when they saw in the distance the waters of Marah. I imagine they would have rushed to this pool only to find the water bitter and undrinkable.
Think how those Israelites would’ve yelled at Moses! Why is this happening to us: the chosen people? Do something Moses! Why is God doing this to us? Why are we suffering?
God directed Moses to throw a tree into that pool and immediately the waters became drinkable. In that moment God made an astounding revelation for the first time: His healing name: I am the LORD who heals you (Ex. 15:26).
Our sicknesses are like those bitter waters that God uses to test us (Ex. 15:25). It is only when we apply the tree of Calvary to life’s bitter waters that we are healed.
You may relate to the woman with an “issue of blood” for 12 years — she had known those bitter waters. She was pulled, poked and probed by the doctors of her day but she was only made worse. (Luke 8:43-48). Jesus turned those bitter waters sweet.
You may like to consider the whole region of the Gadarenes terrorised by a man controlled by a legion of demons. No one could contain him and he lived out his days running around naked amidst the tombs. I can’t think how embarrassed his parents must’ve been, or how fearful the whole region was or especially his own personal pain and trauma. Jesus turned his bitter waters sweet (Luke 8:26-39).
Hang in there, my friend. Your bitter waters will be made sweet because that is the promise of God.
God declared : I am the Lord who H-E-A-L-S. (Ex. 15:26).
God’s promise is: I am the Lord who heals Y-O-U. (Ex. 15:26).
God heals today as He did yesterday: I AM the Lord who heals you. (Ex. 15:26).
God heals every kind of disease: Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and HEALS ALL MY DISEASES”.(Psa.103:2-3).
God never changes: I am the Lord, and I do not change. (Mal. 3:6).
This is the promise of God to all those who “listen carefully to the voice of the LORD their God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees …for I am the LORD who heals you”.(Ex. 15:26).
