Dark Clouds, Blue Sky

Those are dark clouds," said the boy. "Yes, but they will move on," said the horse, "the blue sky above never leaves." (The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy)

2017 was a heart-breaking year for me. The man I had married in 1974 left me for someone else. I reached out to God for a miracle and I got it. In 2018 I met Pete, the love of my life.

In April 2019 the doctor told me I was dying. I reached out to God for a miracle and I got it. Six weeks later the cancer had gone.

There had been dark skies in my life but they moved on and the blue sky, that had always been there, reappeared.

God's faithfulness is a constant in your life. It’s easy to forget that because of present pain and how humans define fidelity. We tend to project our limitations, false beliefs and the limitations of others onto God but that is not who He is. This is who He is: “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?”(Num. 23:19).

You can trust God. You can trust Him completely with your family. With your finances, With your employment. With your housing. With your marriage. With your health. With your salvation. With your life. He doesn’t need you to do anything for Him. His faithfulness is independent of what you do. He just wants your trust.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take” (Prov. 3:5-6). You weren’t created to live life on your own. You were created to lean upon the One who will be true to you for eternity.

Respond to His faithfulness today with your own faithfulness. Return to the Father's embrace. “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him” (Luke 15:20).

May you be blessed with unconditional love and joy from your Father who is waiting for you to trust Him.

Thanks Georgia.

The world can change all around us but God never changes. "For I the LORD do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed" (Mal. 3:6).

It is good to be reminded of the constancy of God. His faithfulness is unconditional because He cannot deny himself. What a wonderful Father we serve.
