David, Goliath and healing

Imagine being confronted by someone well over 2 metres tall, brawny and aggressive, who wanted to fight you. Imagine that person had never lost a single fight in their entire life for he was a battle hardened warrior armed with state-of-the-art armour.

All you have to fight with against this terrifying giant of a man is a slingshot and 5 stones, varying in size from that of a billiard ball to a tennis ball. You’re a ruddy-cheeked lad, straight from the paddocks, but you know you will win the contest because you have the power of the Almighty God behind you.

Our fight against Satan is like this. He is armed to the teeth with nasty lies and afflictions but we are armed with the Rock:

“No one is holy like the LORD! There is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.” (I Sam. 2:2).

When Satan accuses, intimidates or afflicts we exercise our faith and heave that Rock at him. Just one blow from that Rock and our enemy is brought down.

When we choose to activate the truth of God’s word we are hurtling a powerful Rock at Satan’s weakest point, his forehead. He has no comeback and he must flee. “So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

So how this works is like this. If you are facing death you say,” The doctors say I have 6 months to live but the Word of God says “the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. For they are transplanted to the Lord’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. They will declare, “The Lord is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in him!” (Psa. 92:12-15).

Those words are powerful and will bring down strongholds: “We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments” (2 Cor. 10:4).

“God sent His word and healed me, and snatched me from the door of death. Healing belongs to me.

Thank you Jesus that I am healed for your Word says I am healed” (Psa. 107:20).
