A few days ago I was having dinner with a few friends in a restaurant. We started playing reciting from memory verses from the Bible and a waitress came up to our table to clear away the used dishes. She listened attentively to our 8 year old recite John 3:16:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”.
She commented that she had stopped attending a church at the same age and was amazed at this little girl’s obvious conviction about what she believed. From the witness of a little 8 year old, after a bit of discussion, the waitress came to the point that she wanted Jesus back in her life.
I learned:
1. that any opportunity can be used to bring people to know Jesus
2. you don’t need special skills to talk about Jesus – it’s child’s play!
3. that there are people all around us waiting to hear about Jesus
4. that God will work with whatever you have got
5. to never let anything get in the way of preaching Jesus and what He has done for us.
Telling people about Jesus is termed “the Great Commission”.
“Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. 16 Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. 17 These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages” (Mark 16:16-17).
All Christians have been tasked with spreading the good news about Jesus. How will you talk about Jesus to somebody today? Have you seen proof of the truth of the Gospel that you witness by accompanying miraculous signs? Who can you pray for today?
