The Wings of a Dove

Updated: Feb 1, 2021

Right throughout the Bible the dove is mentioned and it is described as representing beauty, harmlessness, humility, purity and love. On two notable occasions the dove has been associated with the Holy Spirit.

When the Holy Spirit initiated creation there was a dove-like fluttering present. The Talmud adds the meaning that before God commenced creating everything that relates to our earth that the Spirit of God was hovering or fluttering “over the water as a dove which broods over her young.” (Gen 1:2).

When Jesus was baptised the Holy Spirit was seen to alight on Him like the fluttering of a dove and so commenced the instigation of God’s plan of redemption for all.

The love, goodness, mercy and beauty of the Holy Spirit fluttering over us is what we are trying to capture in calling our site: “The wings of a dove”. We hope to reveal our God’s heart for us, His heart to heal, restore and redeem. We all face problems and have issues but God’s plan for us was always to have us whole and complete in body, mind and soul – just the way He created us to be.

It is our desire to feed your soul and spirit with the healing and nurturing that is there for you through the power of the Holy Spirit so that you can soar on the wings of a dove above every trial and heartache. As the God of creation’s beloved child you are loved immeasurably – His is the heart of a Father who cherishes you for eternity.

Our message is captured in this wonderful old American country music song performed by Ferlin Husky and found at:

“When troubles surround us when evils come The body grows weak The spirit grows numb When these things beset us, He doesn't forget us He sends down His love On the wings of a dove’”
